Veterinary Acupuncture

Dr Susanne Anderson

Susanne Anderson is very pleased to be able to offer veterinary acupuncture therapy as an integrative treatment choice for your pets. Acupuncture was developed in China over 2,000 years ago and is used widely in human and veterinary medicine to relieve pain and improve the function of various body systems.

Well known benefits of acupuncture include:

relief of pain, relief of muscle spasm, regulates nerve transmission, release of beta endorphins and other neurotransmitters, improves blood flow and organ function and improves mood.

Common disorders that can benefit from Acupuncture  treatment include  musculoskeletal or neurogenic pain, intervertebral disc disease, neck pain, back pain, osteoarthritis, muscle spasm, peripheral nerve paralysis and  seizures. Gastrointestinal disorders, endocrine disorders, urinary tract disorders and skin disorders can also be treated with acupuncture.

Acupuncture has few side effects and can be very safely integrated with western medical treatment. Both rely on a good physical examination and medical history and together can be used synergistically to promote health and prevent disease.

Susanne is a Certified Veterinary Acupuncturist and received her certification from the International Veterinary Acupuncture Society in the USA in 2002. Since then she has pursued additional continuing education in Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine in the USA in 2006 and in Australia in 2008 and 2011.
